Computer-Aided Diagnosis of Splenic Enlargement Using Wave Pattern of Spleen in Abdominal CT Images: Initial Observations
نویسندگان
چکیده
In general, the spleen accompanied by abnormal abdomen is hypertrophied. However, if the spleen size is originally small, it is hard to detect the splenic enlargement due to abnormal abdomen by simply measure the size. On the contrary, the spleen size of a person having a normal abdomen may be large by nature. Therefore, measuring the size of spleen is not a reliable diagnostic measure of its enlargement or the abdomen abnormality. This paper proposes an automatic method to diagnose the splenic enlargement due to abnormality, by examining the boundary pattern of spleen in abdominal CT images. key words: computer-aided diagnosis, abdominal CT images, spleen, liver cirrhosis, wave pattern

Introduction: Hydatid cysts are much less common in the abdomen than in the lungs, and the most common organ involved in the abdomen is the liver, although it is rarely seen in the spleen alone or in multiple organs. The patient was a 25-year-old man who presented with LUQ pain that started one month ago and with a mild non-intermittent nature and it gradually increased. On ultrasound of the pa...

Introduction: In the lung cancers, a computer-aided detection system that is capable of detecting very small glands in high volume of CT images is very useful. This study provided a novelsystem for detection of pulmonary nodules in CT image. Methods: In a case-control study, CT scans of the chest of 20 patients referred to Yazd Social Security Hospital were examined. In the two-dimensional and ...
متن کاملThe Spleen and Sickle Cell Anemia: A Contrast Enhanced Computerized Tomography Based Study
The spleen is one of the most frequently affected organs in sickle cell anemia (SCA). This study aims to characterize the spleen in sickle cell anemia patients using contrast enhanced computerized tomography scanning (CECT). 67 patients with SCA from different Saudi Arabian areas were enrolled; ages are ranged from 10 months to 28 years old. The spleen was assessed with CT for abdominal pain an...

متن کاملAutomated classification of pulmonary nodules through a retrospective analysis of conventional CT and two-phase PET images in patients undergoing biopsy
Objective(s): Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) examination is commonly used for the evaluation of pulmonary nodules since it provides both anatomical and functional information. However, given the dependence of this evaluation on physician’s subjective judgment, the results could be variable. The purpose of this study was to develop an automated scheme for the classific...
